Baby Shoes

I am in love with the new baby shoes we have in store from Lisa Renee Vintage http://shimi.com.au/store/index.php?manufacturers_id=35 . These little gems are designed to NOT fall off said child's foot, which is a bonus for us mums. How many times have you had to stop the pram to pick up baby shoes or socks. I would have bought ten of these shoes when my kids were babies (sadly they no longer just sleep and eat).

These little shoes are made from vintage fabric and come in sizes small to extra large (up to 14 months). We will have some great new children's wear on the site very soon, so don't forget to regularly check http://shimi.com.au/store/index.php

Where is a good clutch when you need one

I have never been a "bag lady". I find it hard to pass a great pair of shoes and have to restrain myself when it comes to great clothing (in fact I usually live in hope that whatever I am trying on WON'T fit so I don't have the dilemma of "how can I justify this purchase"), but bags have never been my thing. I have two nice handbags, but I generally stick to the same one for months on end and then change to the other when I get a bit bored.

But last week I really needed something, small, compact and understated and I had NOTHING.... So I had to lug my huge tote, which normally is perfect for me with two children constantly pushing a toy or colouring in books and pencils at me to carry, but that day not so good. My whole outfit was ruined by this bag, and I was constantly knocking people with it.

As this event was very unexpected I didn't have time to order myself a clutch from one of Shimi's (http://www.shimi.com.au/) great designers, but I can assure you, I will be getting one very soon! We have just added these beautiful clutches from JK Creations - http://shimi.com.au/store/index.php?manufacturers_id=33 .

Organic Fashion

Well, we continue to rave about organic fashion. Not only as it is the basis of maintaining a sustainable future in fashion, but it is delicious to wear, and will last so much longer.

We are then proud to include another new designer to the Shimi Team - Railway Street http://shimi.com.au/store/index.php?manufacturers_id=31. Railway Street designer, Julie Club, creates designer clothing out of bamboo/organic jersey cotton in sizes ranging from 6-14. All these items can also been machine washed - yah, who has time to hand wash.

Railway Street focuses on designs that are simple, but very well cut with great attention to detail, such as the sleeves. A simple design with unique detailing will be an item that will remain in your wardrobe for years to come and the chic cut will never go out of date.

Myoriginalsin Clutch

Well I hope all the tirelessly working mums out there had a fantastic day. Unfortunately mine was quite a sad one this year, as I lost my Mother-In-Law just two days prior. However as always with children, you can't help but smile even through the sad times. I received some gorgeous handmade presents - my favourite.

However I did take advantage of have a wonderful new designer with Shimi and purchased my mum a cute new clutch from Myoriginalsin, along with an aromatherapy candle from Jewel. I went for the Black and White clutch for my mum, but Myoriginalsin have great designs that would suit any age group, and any event.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mothers Day...This year I participated in the Mother's Day Classic (Melbourne CBD) for the first time. Our group was made up of 8 women and two teenage daughters who were walking in memory of the women we have lost over the years to not only breast cancer, but all types of cancer. Its a really well run event, great atmosphere and a very worthwhile cause. Next year I am purchasing myself a MDC t-shirt to really get into the 'PINK theme'.

I then came home to two little boys who were waiting excitedly to give me a card and present. In my last blog I spoke about my eldest shopping for me at the school market. My gift was awesome - a pink pen with little diamantes on it and a gorgeous mug - because I LOVE drinking tea. He said to me 'I saw a plant but thought not to get that because your plants are no good! ha (He has taken note of the plant I bought to go in the pot he decorated at kinder last year - its looking a little sad).

I hope you had a good day and managed to sit back and relax and enjoy
time with family.

Made or rather bought - with LOVE!

Mother's Day is only a few days away. I live interstate from my Mum, so when Mother's Day comes around, I always wish that I could simply have a cup of tea with my Mum.. It would be so good to sit, laugh and talk face to face.

Since having children of my own, I have a new found love of this special day.
My eldest son, Zac is in Prep. During the week they had a Mother's Day market at school. He was so excited to be choosing something for me all on his own.
On the day that he purchased my gift, he made me stay away from his school bag and away from his room while he hid the present. (He has since made me promise not to look under his bed. ha - too funny)!
I don't think I have ever been more curious or more excited about a gift in my life. It really is true that the money factor in a gift is not what counts. Its the love and thought that matters.
My husband said that when Zac told him what he had bought and the reason why he chose it, he was fighting back tears - as the thought behind it is simply gorgeous.
So, I am counting my sleeps until I sit and listen to Zac's story and gratefully receive my gift of love. xx

Clutch Bags

Our newest designer to join Shimi is Myoriginalsin. Myoriginalsin makes gorgeous clutches in pretty feminine fabric.

These clutches contain interfacing so that it is sturdy enough to carry all your items but still soft. It also has a small internal pocket for your lippy or cards. This is perfect for night, or with a lovely sun dress during the day. Alternatively it is nice carry all for your phone and wallet, inside your bag. How many times have you gone to pay and spend five minutes looking for your wallet at the bottom of the huge totes that are so popular now (sore shoulders after a long day shopping, but we do love them).
Buttons and lining will vary with each clutch, however this makes these clutches all the more unique.

Don't forget to check for upcoming products. Subscribe to Shimi and you will receive great offers, like free postage for the whole month of your birthday.
